Major Erosion After Strong Winds and Storm

Sad to see this weekend that this week’s extremely windy storms really did a number on the beach. we weren’t doing so great to begin with, then we had some 4-6′ surf from TS Leslie hundreds of miles offshore. All in all, it was a quiet summer for waves, but this is scary for no big storms and so early in the winter storm season.

“Second Beach” looking west . That’s the high tide line up the middle with the high wave line up almost to the fence at the dune(right). The fence in the distance, just put up last week, already fell down in the high water.

Keep in mind-these pictures were taken about 1-1/2 hours before high tide.

Some pretty rough waters out there.  a few die-hards were out at the TOH beach in 6 ft swells.  a little calmer than yesterday when i got to see first-hand ambulances and multiple emergency room attendees at Long Beach Hospital yesterday (don’t ask!)
