From Town of Hempstead:

Supervisor Kate Murray, the Town of Hempstead and Maliblue Oyster Bar want residents to work this Labor Day Weekend … on their tans and on their very own sand-sculptures during the 1st Annual Seaside Sand-Sculpting Spectacular Competition on Saturday, August 31st at Town Park at Malibu. At an August 29th press conference held at Town Park at Malibu, Supervisor Murray and Butch Yamali, owner of Maliblue Oyster Bar, invited residents of all ages to join in the event’s festivities, which include great prizes, gift certificates to Maliblue Oyster Bar, food, fun and sun for the whole family.

Hempstead Town and Maliblue Oyster Bar, which are sponsoring the event, will welcome some of the nation’s premier sand sculptors, whose handiwork will be on display at Town Park at Malibu from Saturday through Labor Day.

“I can think of no better way to mark the unofficial end of summer than to showcase the talents and creativity of our sand-sculpting residents along the pristine shoreline of Town Park at Malibu,” stated Murray. “We encourage residents of all ages to come join us for this wonderful event. All you need is a bucket and a pail … we’ll provide the sand!”

“The Maliblue Oyster Bar is proud to partner with Supervisor Kate Murray and the Town of Hempstead on this wonderful sand-sculpting event for Labor Day Weekend,” added Yamali.

The competitive portion of the Seaside Sand-Sculpting Spectacular Competition will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., with awards and prizes being presented at 1 p.m. Residents who wish to register for the competition may do so at Town Park at Malibu at 7:30 a.m. on the day of the event. After the awards ceremony, residents are encouraged to stick around for the festivities – which include great food and all the fun Town Park at Malibu has to offer – which will continue until 7 p.m.
“We invite all residents to join us for the 1st Annual Seaside Sand-Sculpting Spectacular Competition on August 31st,” concluded Murray.
