S.T.O.P. In Long Beach Sunday 4/27/14

The Town of Hempstead bring their Stop Throwing Out Pollutants program to Long Beach City Hall this Sunday, 4/27/14 8am-3pm

Click here for Info and list of pollutants they take

From their website:
The Stop Throwing Out Pollutants (S.T.O.P.) Program is designed to provide area residents with a safe, environmentally sound method of disposal of the many hazardous materials found in the average home. By bringing such toxins as antifreeze, drain cleaners and pesticides on any of the scheduled S.T.O.P. collection days, you and your family can make a significant contribution to the protection of our precious groundwater supply and the preservation of our bays and estuaries. Please join with us in cleaning our homes of hazardous material and ensuring their proper collection and disposal. Together we can ensure the continued integrity of our fragile ecosystem.

What YOU Can Do: Climate Change Workshop

This Wednesday, April 23, 2014 the national, volunteer-based citizens’ organization will be launching their new Nassau And Queens chapter. They plan to be very active here on the South Shore, in the wake of Irene and Sandy, and work towards the global reduction of carbon emissions necessary to assure our future security.

This organization is effective and efficient and has been endorsed by Dr. James Hansen, head of Goddard Institute for Space Studies, NASA:
“Most impressive is the work of Citizens’ Climate Lobby. If you want to join the fight to save the planet, to save creation for your grandchildren, there is no more effective step you could take than becoming an active member of this group.”

Find out what YOU can do to address climate change through the citizen empowering, free-market based, non-partisan plan this group of 4000 volunteers works towards.

I will be taking part.

this event on facebook:

You’ve changed your lightbulbs and insulated your home. You shop at the farmers’ market for local produce. When possible, you walk or ride your bike.

There is not much more you can do to address the climate crisis until…
….it is possible to buy an electric car you plug into the smart grid powered by renewable energy and help your neighbors to insulate their homes.

What you need – what we all need- is an economy-wide global switch from fossil fuels to renewables. The USA must lead and Congress has to pave the way.

How in the world do you make THAT happen?

We’ve got a clue! Come find out from the experts.

Please spread the word about this event to anyone who you know that may be interested!
